Our quartet, Beija-flor, is named after the hummingbird in Portuguese. Like the hummingbird, which carries drops of water to a forest fire doing what it can, we focus on what we can do and approach music with care. By listening closely to each other’s breathing and sound, we respond in the moment and aim for a flexible ensemble.
